Sunrise Observations 2025-04-24 (publ. 2025-04-28)
Location: east hill of UAF
5:22am
Lots of pink, as well as some yellow pink and some dark-pink, on the bottoms of flat clouds over hills to the East. The "pink" has a hint of orange. The clouds are puffy but flat, and not very thick. I can see the silhouette of a radio tower against the sunrise.
5:28am
I see lots of color now up to about 10° elevation. The lower half of that is a white-orange. Higher up, the color becomes a moderately dark pink. To the NE and the SE I can see lots of dark pink, almost a purple color.
5:32
The sky just above the hills is a very light pink. The sunrise colors are still limited to about 10° elevation. Most of the clouds are flat and puffy, but to the E, at around 20° elevation, I can see some smudgy clouds which criss-cross each other in places
5:36
Now the sky just above the hills is a white-orange, and especially bright on a few small flat clouds. A similar color is #FFB56F, which is described on colorhexa.com as "very light orange".
#FFB56F very light orange
Compare also "pastel orange", which is a little different but has a fancier sounding name:
